Day 1: In Stockholm
Today you arrive to Stockholm and are free to explore this picturesque city. Often referred to as the ‘Venice of the North’, Stockholm is unquestionably a unique and beautiful city all year round, not only due to its location on 14 islands with its infinite presence of water, but also because of its combination of nature, colourful architecture and ancient history. And you need never walk far to appreciate the impressive views stretching across the Baltic water as it winds past the city walls. Furthermore, stroll through 13th century Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming old town, where you cannot help but feel its medieval atmosphere as you wander through the cobblestone streets past narrow, colourful houses of yesteryear. There is so much to see in Stockholm, appealing to so many different interests, that you are sure to find something special within walking distance of your hotel.

Day 2: Hike Lake Mälaren & 1920s Gamla Bromma
A suggested hike today is to follow the shores of glistening lake Mälaren. Start your hike at Hässelby Strand, accessible by underground from Stockholm, and pick up the hiking path that hugs the coast all the way back to Stockholm. As well as non-stop beautiful coastal scenery you pass the spectacular view point at Ljunglöfska verandra and a chance to wander through some of Stockholm’s most fashionable suburbs, passing the 1920s district of Gamla Bromma where desirable villas line the shore of this protected ‘garden city’. An idyllic place for Stockholmers to live outside the city centre. The hike also takes you past no less than 4 established beaches so be prepared to take a dip in the refreshing Mälaren waters. Your hike ends at Alvik Square where there is a good choice of restaurants as well as the underground to take you back to the city.
Option to detour to Drottningholm Palace, residence of the Royal Family and most well-preserved royal castle built in the 1600s in Sweden.

Day 3: Stockholm archipelago hike, Gällnö
Today we suggest you take to the water onboard one of the many archipelago boats to the heart of the archipelago to explore this island metropolis by foot, exactly the way it should be. Gällnö is easily accessible by boat from the city centre, but is a world away from the city on its doorstep. Its landscape is typical of the central archipelago, with forests of pine trees and oaks, open meadows and well-preserved settlements. There is a working farm so don’t be surprised to pass by grazing cows and the local bar serves food with is more than often taken from the islands own produce. A chance to swim is never far away as you enjoy island life at its best. You can also island hop from Gällnö over the narrow sound to Karklö thanks to the row boats. Fresh sea air and beautiful scenery ensure a wonderful day away from the city.

Day 4: Stockholm City Hike, Söder's Heights
Today your hike starts on your doorstep. It takes you on a historical and picturesque tour of Stockholm’s southern island, Södermalm. Explore the district’s narrow cobblestone alleys, timber cottages dating back to the 1600s, and grand churches. Not to mention stunning views across lake Mälaren towards the old town, city hall and Djurgården. Continue your city hike along the water passing extravagant apartments and boats galore. Make your way along Strandvägen, Stockholm’s fanciest waterside boulevard. And then onto Djurgården island and the world’s first National Park to be located within a bustling city. The Ekopark is 27 km2 and is a green oasis combining cultural heritage and natural features. Here you can cycle through ancient forests, visit palaces and bathe from waterside rocks. Animals such as foxes, badgers, marten, mink and deer roam freely and the greatest number of large oak trees in northern Europe are located right here, in the city centre!

Day 5: Tyresta National Park Hike
After a bus journey and short taxi ride you arrive on the outskirts of Tyresta National Park - a protected area of some 5000 hectares with trees dating back over 400 years, sparkling forest lakes and a wealth of wildlife. Deer roam freely throughout whilst moose wait their turn as dusk falls. Hike the trails through the endless forests of pine and birch, taking a refreshing dip as you pass by one of the many lakes. Find the perfect spot and enjoy the peace, tranquility and breathtaking nature. Your hike takes you along the shores of lake Långsjön, passing by the spectacular viewpoint over Stensjön lake, through the fire area, and along lakes Årsjön and Bylsjön as well as through virgin forest. End your hike at Tyresta centre with its café, shop and Naturum information centre with excellent exhibition. The bus then takes you back to the buzz of the city.

See the last sights of Stockholm, catch up on some shopping, and enjoy a last wonder down to the water to enjoy the unique atmosphere this city has to offer.
