Airlines
There are three airlines which fly regularly to Stockholm:
British Airways flies to Arlanda airport. They can very often have good priced tickets if booked in advance.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flies to Arlanda airport. They can very often have good priced tickets if booked in advance.
Ryanair is the low cost airline that operates from Stansted and Glasgow. They can have extremely low fares if booked in advance.
Although Ryanair can offer the lowest fares, it is always worth checking with British Airways and SAS as they have many special offers and can often not cost so much more than the Ryanair flight but are often more convenient.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport
Arlanda is Stockholm’s main airport and is approximately 40 minutes from Stockholm centre.

You fly from various airports around the UK
There are three transfer options to Stockholm centre:
- There is a very efficient airport transfer service, Flygbussarna, which goes from the airport to Stockholm central station.
- Taxi costs approximately 500 sek from the airport to Stockholm centre. Beware of illegal taxi drivers, always use a registered taxi such as Taxi Stockholm.
- The airport shuttle train, Arlanda Express, takes 20 mins from the airport to Stockholm central station.
Stockholm Skavsta Airport, Nyköping
Skavsta airport is approximately 15 mins from Nyköping town. Nyköping is 100 km south of Stockholm and takes about 1¼ hours from the airport to the centre of Stockholm.
Ryanair uses Skavsta airport.
There are two transfer options to Stockholm centre:
- There is a very efficient airport transfer service, Flygbussarna, which goes from Skavsta airport to Stockholm central station.
- Taxis are available but because of the distance can cost around SEK 1,500. Beware of illegal taxi drivers, always use a registered taxi such as Taxi Stockholm.
Stockholm Västerås Airport, Västerås
Västerås airport is approximately 15mins from Västerås town. Västerås is 100 km west of Stockholm and takes about 1¼ hrs from the airport to Stockholm centre.
Ryanair uses this airport.
